On behalf of my fellow directors, I am pleased that this performance has been driven not only by stronger market activity but also by sustained improvements in operational efficiency, disciplined cost management and the continued diversification of our revenue streams.

“As a board, we remain committed to maintaining an appropriate balance between rewarding shareholders today and continuing to invest in technology, innovation, resilience and new growth opportunities that will strengthen CSCS’ position as Nigeria’s leading financial market infrastructure and one of Africa’s foremost post-trade institutions.”

CSCS reported a 92 per cent surge in total operating income, which reached N18.51bn for the period. The revenue boost was primarily driven by higher transaction fee income amid increased capital market activity, alongside steady expansion across depository services, collateral management, data offerings, and technology-enabled solutions.

Speaking on the performance, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, CSCS Plc, Shehu Shantali, said, “Our first-half performance reflects the strength and resilience of CSCS’ business model, the dedication of our people and the continued confidence of market participants. We are particularly encouraged by the strong growth in earnings, the significant improvement in operating efficiency and our ability to translate that performance into enhanced shareholder returns, as demonstrated by our first-ever interim dividend.

“Looking ahead, we remain focused on strengthening our core market infrastructure, investing in technology and innovation, broadening our revenue streams and enhancing the value we deliver to all stakeholders. We are confident that these priorities position CSCS to sustain its growth trajectory and continue supporting the development of Nigeria’s capital market.”

Operational discipline played a major role in translating revenue growth into bottom-line profitability. While operating income grew by 92 per cent, operating expenses increased by only

38 per cent, highlighting the scalability of the company’s operating model.

Consequently, operating profit jumped 186 per cent to N10.11bn, while profit before tax grew 115 per cent to N13.21bn. Earnings per share rose to 190.1k from 109.1k recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

Key efficiency metrics also showed significant improvement. The cost-to-income ratio improved from 63.2 per cent to 45.4 per cent, while the operating profit margin expanded from 36.8 per cent to 54.6 per cent, illustrating strong operating leverage and effective cost management.

Incorporated in 1992 and operational since April 1997, Central Securities Clearing System Plc is Nigeria’s primary Financial Market Infrastructure. Licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company serves as the central securities depository, clearing, and settlement engine for trades executed across Nigerian capital market trading venues, including the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the NASD OTC Exchange.

Before CSCS began operations, trading on the Nigerian stock market depended on physical share certificates, which caused settlement delays and created risks related to certificate loss, theft, and forgery. CSCS spearheaded the full dematerialisation of share certificates into electronic book- entry records, modernising Nigerian capital markets and shortening transaction settlement cycles.

Source: https://punchng.com/cscs-pays-first-mid-year-dividend-of-n1-per-share/

CSCS pays first mid-year dividend of N1 per share The Board of Directors of Central Securities Clearing System Plc has approved a historic interim dividend of N1 per ordinary share for the six months ended 30 June 2026, marking the first time the company will pay a mid-year dividend in its operating history.
